The narrowboat job
The Whale Supersub SS1012 is a low-profile 12V bilge pump for removing accumulated bilge water through a correctly installed discharge system. Its narrow form helps where access and height are limited.
Choose the correct version
- Model: SS1012; 12V DC.
- 1100 model; published open flow up to 66 litres/minute.
- Standard version: provide a suitable control; automatic operation requires a separate compatible bilge switch.
- Rotatable outlet arrangement to suit the installation.
Check before fitting
Measure the space, confirm the outlet and hose size, and check the discharge route and required wiring against Whale’s instructions. Flow reduces as discharge height and hose resistance increase. Keep access to the strainer for cleaning.
Know what the pump can do
A bilge pump removes water; it does not fix the leak that brought it in. Investigate unexpected water and check the pumping system regularly. This is a bilge pump, not a drinking-water pump or a replacement for a correctly designed bilge system.
