The onboard job
The Shurflo Revolution 4029-281-B54 is a 12V demand pump for a compatible freshwater pressure system. Its four-chamber diaphragm design supplies water when an outlet is opened, with a 30psi shut-off setting. On a narrowboat, check the installation requirements before choosing it as a replacement.

Match it to your boat
Check the existing pump label, the pressure limit of the water heater and plumbing, the mounting position and the port fittings. A ½″ BSP fitting is not automatically interchangeable with NPSM. Rated open flow is not a guarantee of shower flow under pressure.
Complete the replacement
Inspect the tank feed and inlet strainer before fitting the pump. Select a compatible strainer and connections, and follow the model’s instructions for fuse, cable and installation requirements. If the old pump cycles with all taps closed, check for leaks rather than assuming a replacement will cure the symptom.
