Where it earns its place on a narrowboat
A reachable stop valve can make a future plumbing repair much simpler. Use it on a compatible hot or cold water line where you need to shut off the flow to a fixture or section of the system.
Choose the right fitting
- Choose 15mm or 22mm to match pipe outside diameter.
- Screw-down stop valve with demountable push-fit connections.
- Hot and cold water only; not suitable for central heating.
Before you fit it
Use with compatible Speedfit PEX or polybutylene pipe, or copper pipe. Match the fitting to the pipe’s outside diameter. Plastic pipe needs the correct manufacturer’s insert; copper pipe does not. Isolate the water, make a clean square cut and follow John Guest’s insertion and locking instructions. Check the joint for leaks before closing up the cupboard or access panel.
Position the control where you can reach it after installation. Check that the proposed location and operating conditions are suitable for this valve.
